The Oldest Town in Texas
Nacogdoches began its quest for quality education in 1845 with the Republic of Texas charted in the first university in the state. The old Nacogdoches University Building is still located on the campus of Thomas J. Rusk Academy of Fine Arts and is open to the public as a Nationally registered historic site.
